SAE 1018 is a low carbon steel widely used where good weldability, formability and moderate strength are more important than high hardness. Its low carbon content makes it easy to machine, bend and weld without special precautions.
It is commonly specified for components that will be carburised or case hardened, since the soft core is retained while the surface can be hardened. We supply SAE 1018 bright bar in round, square and hexagonal profiles from our Pune plants.
