EN1A Pb is the leaded version of EN1A free cutting steel. A controlled lead addition, typically around 0.15–0.35%, acts as an internal lubricant during cutting, giving even better machinability than standard EN1A.
The practical benefit is higher spindle speeds, reduced tool wear and improved surface finish on high volume turned work. Because of the lead content, EN1A Pb requires appropriate handling and is not suitable for welding or for applications where lead is restricted. We manufacture EN1A Pb bright bar at our Pune facilities.
